So why training toolkits? Good question, there is after all lots of material that can be found across the web, and you likely have some form of internal capacity to help develop these things.
Well, how many of you have looked across the web and realised that that much of the content out there is not actually fit for purpose without some considerable editing? We can only go off our own experience, and this has happened to us on numerous occasions.
Similarly the sheer volume of projects and change that internal teams have to support and navigate are so plentiful that finding the time to devote to considered design of learning materials is often one of the things that gets chopped off the ‘to-do’ list. We have been there ourselves, we appreciate why and how this happens.
the best way to learn is to do
Interestingly,Karl Kapp, professor of instructional technology at Bloomsburg University, reports on the average time to develop one hour of training being a high as 43 hours from those involved in his research (note that this is a low estimate, and from back in 2009). That is a vast amount of time, effort and expenditure for any individual or organisation.
This is where Training Central steps in, providing affordable ‘plug and play’ training materials for all learning professionals. It’s as simple as that really.
